- Consol Football made the top seed in the playoffs after beating the Glenn Grizzlies on Friday, Oct 28. The Tigers will host the Seguin Matadors on Friday, Nov 11.
- On Saturday, Oct 29, in South Korea, a crowd surge in the Itaewon district killed at least 151 people. In response, the South Korean president declared a national period of mourning that ends today.
- At least 134 people died after a suspension bridge collapsed in the state of Gujarat, India on Sunday, Oct 30.
- Climate change activists have been throwing food at and gluing their hands or heads to museum paintings as a form of protest. In one recent event, a man glued his head to the “Girl With a Pearl Earring” painting while another man poured a can of tomato soup on him before gluing his own hand to the wall. On Wednesday, Nov. 2, the two were sentenced to a month in prison for their actions.
- On Saturday, a 15-year-old was shot and killed in the parking lot outside the Pearl Apartments in College Station. The College Station Police Department arrested a suspect on Wednesday.
- Tuesday, November 8, are the midterm elections for the Senate, House, as well as state governor’s offices.
- Many recover from tornadoes that tore through regions northeastern Texas and southeastern Oklahoma on Friday evening. Authorities say at least one dead and dozens injured; damage still being assessed.
- North Korea fired 23 missiles on Wednesday, triggering an air raid alarm on an island in the South, provoking a military warning from South Korea.
- This week, Taylor Swift became the first artist in history to have her songs in the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100. All 10 songs were from her newest album, “Midnights”, which she released on Friday, Oct 21.
- Elon Musk took over social media platform Twitter in a $44 billion deal.
