CSISD Education Foundation held their 12th annual 50 Men Who Can Cook event Friday February 1. The event space was packed with attendees and over one hundred cooks serving everything from appetizers to desserts. While each booth served a unique food item, some participants took their booth to the next level with elaborate decorations like lights, props, and costumes.
While the event serves as an opportunity to bring the community together and give recognition to local businesses, one of its most important purposes is to provide funding for the Education Foundation teacher grants. Money from the ticket sales goes towards student scholarships, Hall of Fame, and grants for teachers to buy supplies and new technologies. According to Jody Ford, one of the event coordinators, funding educational innovation is the most rewarding part of the event. “The grant patrol is probably my favorite part,” Ford said. “To see the looks on those teachers, from high school all the way down to Pre-K teachers and those Pre-K kids, getting so excited about their teacher getting honored.”
