On April 19 at 9AM, Senior Aaron Crum’s pickup plowed into senior Anyssa Girela’s silver sedan on Nueces just outside of Consol—at least, that was the scenario.
For two days, A&M Consolidated collaborated with the College Station Police and Fire Departments to put on the “Shattered Dreams” program, which occurs every four years to teach students about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. Statistics show that drivers under 21 years old are involved in 3 times more crashes than drivers over the legal drinking age. “Shattered Dreams” included not only the car crash scenario, but also the heartbeats of those who are lost every fifteen minutes to drunk driving and a memorial service for the student-volunteers involved in “Shattered Dreams”.
