A&M Consolidated baseball recently unveiled their new indoor practice facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Nov. 30. Players, coaches, and parents were on hand to celebrate the opening of the renovated building.
The upgrades included extending the length of the facility by 10 feet, enclosing the formerly-open air building with new garage doors, and painting the exterior. New turf, lights, and batting cages were also added.
“We’ve got a lot more usable space,” Lennerton said. “[And] we have more ways for the kids to use it. We can lift down here, we can do defensive things, and we’ve got more space for the pitchers. We can almost do full indoor practices in here now.”
“The Barn,” as it has been nicknamed by the players, received $35,000 worth of upgrades courtesy of a donation from Tiger Club, the athletic booster club.
“[Tiger Club] is so generous to all of our sports programs,” Lennerton said. “They’re quick to say yes to any upgrade the coach wants in any sport. The reason we compete at the highest level is because they’re willing to help our students.”
Players believe that this facility could give the Tigers an edge when they open play in the spring
“It’s instrumental for our success,” senior Ethan Horrell said. “It allows us to be much more efficient inside of practice. We set up for less time and we get better reps in this facility. It’s really nice for Tiger Club to do this for us.”
