It’s summer. The sun is glaringly bright. You could fry an egg on the sidewalk. No wind in sight. Fall leaves, snowballs, and spring flowers are a thing of the past. Frequent ice cream runs, long cool showers, and even standing in front of the open refrigerator door is the only way to survive the heat nowadays. I decided, since the temperatures are in the 100s, I would share my secret recipe for my tropical mango smoothie. It is also known as Mango Lassi in the menu of many Indian restaurants. A Lassi is a flavored iced yogurt drink that may be either sweet or salted. I have made some adjustments to the recipe to suit my sweet palate (which coincidentally uses some of the fruits I haven’t touched in my fridge). Feel free to adjust it to your tastes!
Ingredients
- 2 cups of milk
- 4 tablespoon of yogurt
- 2 whole mangoes (peeled and diced)
- 2 whole bananas (peeled)
- Ice (optional)
- Mint (optional)
- Honey (optional)
Please also have a blender and utensils too!
Steps
- Put the bananas and mangoes into the blender.
- Blend the two fruits together.
- Add the milk and yogurt in and blend again, then serve
- Add some ice cubes.
- Drizzle some honey on top
- Add mint in each cup.
- Enjoy!
The best thing I like about this recipe is that it is homemade, and you can modify this to have any other fruits and either at room temperature or colder. Summer is growing hotter, so the best we can do is to keep cool.
