10 Things to Know This Week

  1. The last presidential debate was held on Thursday evening between Trump and Biden at 8 pm.
  2. STUCO announced oCoH, a homecoming alternative for this school year. The event will include a picnic and movie on the football field. The movie will be voted on by the student body.
  3. The democrats announced that they plan to boycott the Senate Judiciary committee’s vote on the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
  4. In an interview from the documentary, Francesco, that premiered Wednesday, Pope Francis pushed for legislation to protect same-sex and LQBTQ+ rights, claiming they are “Children of God, and have the right to a family.”
  5. Trump and Biden have made appearances across several ‘Swing states’ this week in hopes to flip the state with electoral votes before November 3.
  6. Early voting numbers continue to break records, with some 47.5 million Americans having already voted as of Wednesday.
  7. Nigerian protests against police brutality have been booming as #EndSARS protests have reportedly been shot at by Nigerian forces in Lagos on Tuesday at a peaceful demonstration. 
  8. The Trump administration, along with 11 other states, sued Google on Wednesday for alleging stilled competition to remain atop the online search marketplace. This is the largest antitrust case Google has faced in over two decades.
  9. The Dunkin Donuts store sign was put up this week at the new location off of Wellborn and Deacon. There is no official opening date for the store yet.
  10. Football plays its first district matchup against Lamar this week at Tigerland Stadium. The Tigers are 4-0 and Mustangs are 0-4 so far.
