Things to Know for this Week

  1. On Feb 5th Donald Trump was Acquitted by the Senate of charges that he abused his power and obstructed congress,  the votes for Article One being 48 guilty and 52 not guilty, and Article Two being 47 guilty and 53 not guilty. This vote was not met without controversy as Republican Mitt Romney went opposite his party and voted President Trump guilty of abuse of power.
  2. For the first time in the past 50 years the CDC ( The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention) have issued a 14 day quarantine for people who recently landed in California who were flown in from Wuhan. The sudden quarantine comes from the explosion of cases and deaths related to coronavirus 
  3. This past Sunday the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in the Super Bowl at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
  4. Jenifer Lopez and Shakira both took the stage for the Super Bowl Halftime show and  were highly praised for their portrayal and celebration of the Latin American cultures. 
  5. The 92nd Academy Awards are this Sunday at 7:00 p.m., with “Joker” leading with 11 nominations while “1917and “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” following close behind with 10 nominations.
