Things to Know for the Week

  1. The situation in Australia is getting worse with over 1,100 firefighters working to stop the spread of fires in New South Wales and Victoria. There are around 20 fires currently burning in the area. 
  2. As the early primaries and caucuses start, candidates are beginning to grow their campaign trail. Warren (D) had revealed she has teams in 31 states plus D.C. Trump (R) tried to gain support in Michigan. 
  3. A second case of  the newly discovered coronavirus has been confirmed in the United States with an unconfirmed case in College Station. The deadly virus is believed to have originated from China. The symptoms are similar to that of an upper respiratory infection which include a runny nose, coughing, sore throat and in some cases a fever. 
  4. On Friday, January 24, 2020 a massive industrial explosion occurred in Houston, TX. The explosion of Watson Grinding and Manufacturing killed two, left the building in ruins and knocked homes in the area off their foundations. 
  5. The Trump administration has appointed a new US Border Patrol leader. Current head of the US Customs and Border Protection announced Rodney Scott is taking the place of Carla Provost who is retiring.
