- A&M Consolidated High School sophomore Eric Gan was recently honored as one of the twelve winners of the USA Mathematical Olympiad. As a result of his performance at the invitation-only test, Gan will be honored in Washington D.C. along with the rest of the winners.
- Joshua Lee Garcia was accused Friday of assaulting another man with a metal file. Bryan police were unable to locate the weapon, but Garcia faces up to twenty years in prison for aggravated assault.
- Texas A&M opened the first phase of their public gardening complex, the seven-acre Leach Teaching Gardens, Friday. The garden complex is planned to be a forty-acre endeavor with 21 gardens and other public areas for educational and recreational use.
- A gunfight between rival gangs resulted in 22 people injured and one man killed at an art festival in New Jersey Sunday morning. The festival had been intended as a unifying activity to reduce violence in the city.
- Last week, the Kellogg company recalled their Honey Smacks cereal due to outbreaks of salmonella in 31 states.
- San Jose doctor Beth Keegstra was recorded Monday mocking a patient suffering from an anxiety attack. Keegstra is no longer allowed to practice emergency care and the patient’s family is considering legal action against the hospital.
