On March 24, 2017, varsity boys’ soccer—fresh from their district victory last week—took on Ennis High School for the first round of playoffs. The game, located at Waco Robinson High School in Waco, Texas, had an unforgiving first half, with neither team making any headway. However, 14 minutes into second half, senior Carlos Espina scored the game-winning goal to make the score 1-0.
“We had a lot of opportunities we couldn’t seem to capitalize on, and [Ennis] got a few during the second half,” assistant boys’ soccer coach Chris Fox said. “We’re just happy that Carlos got his goal at the end and gave us something to fight for and defend until the very end.”
The Lads’ next game will be the following Friday against Georgetown High School.
