The Consol swim team competed at one of their biggest meets of the year, the Bob Stallings Invitational, held at Texas A&M University. The girls’ team finished fourth overall and the boys’ team finished third; each was the highest ranking 5A team at the meet.
Sophomore Jessica Peng placed second in the 200 IM race, setting a new school record at 2:05.47; she also set a lifetime best and school record in the 100 fly race with a time of 0:55.95. In the boys’ 100 fly and 100 back races, junior Peter Simmons won second and first, respectively, followed by sophomore Andrew Zhang in third in both races. The girls’ 400 free relay team, composed of seniors Yanichka Ariunbold and Bridget Griesbach as well as sophomores Jessica Peng and Kyleigh Harrell, won their final. The boys’ 400 free relay, comprised of senior Hunter Scott, junior Peter Simmons and sophomores James Rude and Andrew Zhang, and the boys’ 200 medley relay, composed of senior Hunter Scott, juniors Peter Simmons and Tobias Doerr-Garcia and sophomore Andrew Zhang, both finished second.
Simmons was second in the mens’ high point award and Zhang was fourth; Peng was third in the overall girls’ category.
