Super Smash Club provides environment for gamers to hone competitive skills, meet fellow enthusiasts

by Drew Howerton, staff reporter

Enthusiasts of the popular fighting game series Super Smash Bros. have formed the Super Smash Bros. Club, where students from many different backgrounds have united under a common passion: competitive gaming.

Although both casual and more experienced players are welcome, the club hosts regular competitive tournaments, as well as one-on-one matches. While there is a competitive element, the Smash Bros. club is an after-school place for students to show off their skills and meet others that share a love for gaming, along with sharing tips with newcomers.

As well as playing the newly released Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the club also hosts older variations of the series, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Project M, a popular tournament variation of the game. Students provide all of their consoles, as well as TVs and additional controllers for newcomers who may not have their own.

The Super Smash Bros. club meets Wednesdays and Fridays in Mr. Ruiz’s room, in the English hallway.
