On February 26, the first of the 13-epsiode season of “Fuller House” was released on Netflix. The minute the familiar theme song blasted through the speakers, I knew this show would take me down memory lane.

There was a nostalgic feeling as America’s favorite family shared the screen again. As each character walked in, it felt like the sitcom never ended and everybody just looked a little older (still amazing, though. It’s like they barely aged). The writers knew exactly what they were doing and created one of the best reunions of television history. Familiar catch phrases like “How rude!” and Jesse’s obsession with his hair and Elvis Presley came at full force with all the feels. One character that was missing, though, was Michelle Tanner and the cast broke the fourth wall just to throw shade at the Olsen twins for not being at the reunion.

The team gathers together in their house one last time to have a going away party for Danny, Joey, Jesse, Becky, and Stephanie. Danny also plans on putting the house on the market. And, surprise surprise, Danny remarries a lady that has never been in the show before.

But not everybody is ready to leave the all too familiar home in San Francisco. With three boys, DJ struggles to be a widowed mom while juggling her job as a veterinarian. As she slowly starts to realize that she can’t handle being alone, Stephanie and Kimmy step up to stay with her and they all end up living together.

The show relies heavily on nostalgia which, in my opinion, is a very smart decision. The best scene that automatically brought me to tears was when Jesse sang “Forever” to Becky. Even though it had the familiar cheesiness, it was clear that the target audience was no longer 10 year olds but high school students and up. “Fuller House” is filled with “PG 13” jokes and references to popular things nowadays (Exhibit A: Taylor Swift’s song “Style” and recent album 1989 was mentioned). It makes you wonder if those jokes were always there or if you were just a very innocent child, oblivious to everything.

And props to the show for making an unexpected Donald Trump joke. DJ’s middle child said, and I quote, “I already know all the bad words. Dumb, booger, and Donald Trump”.

Overall, the first episode of “Fuller House” was a roller coaster of emotions and was worth the long wait. So, go watch it!
