VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) is a UIL event that encourages students to enter works of art into events to be judged by jurors in areas such as originality, technical skill, and interpretation of the students art piece. Students entering in VASE are also interviewed, giving them the opportunity to express their point of view in a different way with somebody unfamiliar to them as well as allowing them to make artistic choices in a new way. Involvement in the events also give the students hands on experience with showcasing their art and an idea of what it is like to be a producing artist. This year, students including sophomores Morgan Kehrberg, Tatum Love, Jackson Lacey, and seniors Sara Cathey and Caroline Zerbe will be given the opportunity to show off their projects at the VASE state event in San Antonio between April 22 and 23.
