1. Yesterday, Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia as the winner. Rightful winner Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines was crowned a few minutes later.

2. Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens grossed $529 million during its opening weekend worldwide. Read a review here.

3. On Thursday, Aggie freshman quarterback Kyle Murray announced his intention to transfer, breaking the hearts of thousands of Aggies.

4. In Tennessee on Thursday, high school football player Zaevion Dobson shielded three girls from a gunmen with his own body. Dobson’s mother asked that those who attend his funeral on on Saturday wear maroon, his school’s colors.

5. After three failed attempts at a rocket landing, SpaceX has finally returned a reusable rocket back to earth after its takeoff on Monday.

6. On Monday, senator Lindsey Graham dropped out of the presidential race. As of today, 13 of the 17 announced candidates remain in the race for the Republican nomination.

7. A grand jury has chosen to not indict anyone for the death of Sandra Bland, who died in a Texas jail cell this year. Many have accused the police officer who arrested her for use of excessive force, thus leading to her death.

8. A fake explosive was hidden in the lavatory of an Air France flight, prompting an emergency landing in Kenya. France has been under a state of emergency since the Paris attacks.

9. This year’s winter solstice is on December 22. This astronomical phenomenon marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

10. PolitiFact, a fact-checking website, has awarded the annual “Lie of the Year” to the “campaign misstatements of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump,” including, but not limited to, those such as “I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down” and “The Mexican government … they send the bad ones over.”
