1. Mizzou chancellor and former A&M president R. Bowen Loftin announced that he would resign on January 1st following controversy over race relations on campus. The Mizzou president, Tim Wolfe, resigned today.

2. Starbucks’ new holiday cups have stirred up complaints of the company waging a war on Christmas. The cups, previously featuring festive doodles, are now solid red, and the fact that some people consider this news is even more concerning than just changing the design of a coffee cup.

3. On Saturday, a massive sinkhole in Meridian, Mississippi swallowed 15 cars in an IHOP parking lot. No injuries were reported.

4. Also on Saturday, Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump appeared on the sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live”, giving the show its highest ratings since 2012.

5. Comedian Larry David has been offered $5000 for calling Donald Trump a racist on the same SNL broadcast Trump hosted.

6. A 12 foot, 800 pound alligator was found in the parking lot of a shopping center in Sugarland, Texas on Saturday. The alligator, which is blind in one eye, will soon be released into a wildlife reserve.

7.  A planned missile test over California was mistaken for a UFO sighting in Los Angeles on Saturday.

8. Sunday’s parliamentary election in Myanmar marks the freest election the country has had in a generation. Early polling results predict that the National League of Democracy has won 80% of the national vote.

9. On Wednesday, the Mexican Supreme Court approved the decision to allow a small group to use recreational marijuana legally in a 4-1 vote. This ruling has put Mexico on the road to legalizing widespread recreational use of marijuana.

10. A fatal shooting in Penn Station this morning has ended in one death and two critically injured. The shooter has not yet been apprehended.
