Hillary Clinton has a record much longer than her hair; she was a full partner at a law firm, First Lady of Arkansas for 12 years, First Lady of the United States for 8 years, a senator of New York for 8 years, and Secretary of State under President Obama for 4 years. However, she’s not burned out yet; she’s widely viewed as the foremost candidate for the Democrats and is polling with the largest majority of any candidate, Democrat or Republican.

Keep on reading for a quick overview on her ideas and beliefs:

Throughout high school, she was widely involved in politics, canvassing and campaigning for several candidates; she then attended Wellesley College, with a major in political science. She earned a law degree from Yale University and went on to practice law in Arkansas, while her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was the governor. Over the years, she has weathered several scandals, most famously the Monica Lewinsky affair and her more recent email affair, yet she remains at the forefront of American politics.

  • Endorses the defense the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), the reduction of deductibles and co-pays, and the reduction of the price of prescription medication.
  • Clinton wants to have more than half a billion solar panels installed in four years, generate enough power for every American home in 10 years

Social Issues:

  • Supports tightening of background checks for firearms, increased restrictions on internet sales, reduction of power of the gun lobby.
  • Clinton champions women’s choice in reproduction, asserting that decisions “should be made by a woman, her family, and her faith, with the counsel of her doctor”, and supports paid family leave and affordable daycare.
  • Advocates for Equality Act, which provides full federal equality for all LGBTQ people, as well as supporting marriage equality.
  • Clinton endorses the growth of unions as well as the growth in retirement security by increasing Social Security benefits.

Quotes:

  • “If I want to knock a story off the front page, I just change my hairstyle.”
  • “My two secrets to staying healthy: wash your hands all the time. And, if you can’t, use Purell or one of the sanitizers. And the other is hot peppers. I eat a lot of hot peppers. I for some reason started doing that in 1992, and I swear by it.”
  •  “I don’t have any comment on who the people of Russia choose to be their leaders.”
  • “Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.”

Muppet she most resembles: Miss Piggy. It’s probably something to do with the platinum blonde, but also this picture is obviously what Hillary Clinton wears when she’s not in a pantsuit.
