1. Donald Trump is currently being attacked by the media after failing to correct an audience member at a rally who called President Obama a Muslim and criticized Muslims, saying that there were “training camps growing where [Muslims] want to kill us” and asking when Trump could “get rid of them.” With the support of fellow Republican candidate Ben Carson, Trump refuses to apologize for the incident.

2. Fourteen-year-old Ahmed Mohamed, who was arrested after building a clock that a teacher mistook for a bomb, was the Guest of Honor at the Google’s Science Fair. The event, held at Google’s headquarters, is meant to encourage curiosity in young adults and features 20 science-fair finalists’ projects from around the world. This year’s theme was, “It’s your turn to change the world.”

3. Pope Francis arrives in America on Tuesday, September 22nd. This six-day trip will include the Pope visiting the White House, celebrating a new saint and addressing a Congressional meeting and the United Nations General Assembly.

4. After describing the increasing homeless population as a “public emergency,” the Los Angeles City Council has just decided to allot $100 million from its budget to help alleviate the problem.

5. After several weeks near the lower end of the polls, Scott Walker follows Rick Perry’s suit and drops out of the Republican presidential nomination race.

6. Latin America’s longest-running conflict may be coming to an end; Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and guerrilla commanders have just decided on compensation for victims and punishment for belligerents. Peace talks have been going on for three years, and this latest breakthrough may be a sign of the end of this war.

7. Up to 11 million Volkswagen vehicles worldwide have been found to contain software that allows the company to cheat on its emissions tests. In fact, these dangerous cars have actually been releasing up to 40 times the legal amount of NOx. This can lead to respiratory problems, smog and the disintegration of the ozone layer.

8. Leaders of the European Union are meeting in Brussels on Wednesday, September 23, in order to discuss the current refugee crisis. Several of the proposals made include donating money to international aid organizations, deploying personnel to patrol the EU borders and helping nearby countries like Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan who are accepting most of the refugees.

9. Former Secretary of State and current contender for the Democratic presidential nomination Hillary Clinton will speak to the Human Rights Campaign before the organization’s National Dinner. The full lineup for HRC’s National Dinner will be announced on Saturday, October 3rd.

10. Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, will focus on India’s growing technological areas during his upcoming visit to America. During his trip, he will be touring Silicon Valley and discussing how he believes technology is India’s path out of social and economic problems.
