“The Interview” follows Seth Rogen and James Franco, who venture across the sea to visit Supreme Leader Kim-Jong Un for an exclusive live interview. Wacky jokes and ‘hilarity’ ensue. After all the controversy, hacking and terrorist threats surrounding its release, this movie has been hailed as a victory for free speech. But is it a victory for culture? Probably not, but it makes for a reasonably enjoyable movie.

The two lead roles play the same idiotic character types as in all of their other movies. James Franco – stupid idiot. Seth Rogen – slightly smarter stupid idiot. The two have good chemistry, and that’s a lucky thing, because essentially the entire movie is watching these two trying to assassinate the surprisingly effeminate Kim-Jong Un. Patriots going in to see this who think the movie is about punching commies in the face and a pump-fisting for Americans everywhere will be undoubtedly displeased at the lack of political satire or commentary.

The truth is, after all the news this movie has caused, there’s a remarkable lack of things to say about the actual content. It’s an average, potty-joke movie that delivers a few laughs but not much else. Those expecting “The Interview” to be great will be disappointed. Those expecting it to be horrible will also be disappointed.
