Boys basketball leads throughout game, falls to Rudder in end

by Haley Mitchell, assistant editor

On January 13, the A&M Consolidated men’s basketball team took on Rudder at home. Rudder led by two into the quarter, but the Tigers quickly won it back and kept a thin lead throughout the first quarter. Although senior Ryan Bednarsky briefly lost a shoe, the game continued without a hitch. Rudder trailed by few points but fiercely kept up with Consol’s fast pace. By the end of the first half the Tigers led by three points.

The second half was close, but ultimately depended on free throws. The Tigers sank all but one throughout the game, with sophomore Layton Dimery and senior Derrick Dick leading the charge. After three timeouts in the last minute of the last quarter, Derrick Dick attempted multiple 3-point shots in the final seconds of the game. Ultimately, bonus shots put Rudder ahead to finish the game 66-63.
