John Cooper defeats A&M Consolidated 3-2

After winning the bronze bracket at the Arlington Invitational over the weekend, the A&M Consolidated volleyball team was defeated by the John Cooper Dragons in a narrow 3-2 loss.

Senior Carly Hicks once more put in a stunning performance and led the team with 23 kills. Junior Haley Slocum had 42 assists, and senior Paige Kopetsky had 31 digs.

During the first match, Consol maintained a comfortable three-point lead throughout the game and eventually won 25-19. John Cooper managed to tie through the second match, 26-28, only to be overtaken again by the Tigers in the third, 25-21.

The Tigers tried to seal the match in the fourth game. Consol began to pull ahead only to lose by two points in the game’s final moments.

The match’s overall score was settled in the last game, during which the Dragons outlasted the Tigers 15-7.

Next up: the Tigers take on Magnolia West this Friday, September 5, at 6:00 p.m. at A&M Consolidated.
