The A&M Consolidated varsity volleyball team beat Magnolia tonight 3 games to 1. The home win improves the Lady Tigers’ record to 2-0 after a 3-0 win against Montgomery in their first match of the season.
Junior Haley Slocum and senior Carly Hicks both put in strong performances, with 12 and 16 kills respectively. The play of Lindsey Gore, Mattie DeWitt and freshman McKenzie Dimery also proved important to the win.
The Tigers started out strong with a 10-1 run in the first game, and rode the momentum to an outstanding 25-8 game win. Magnolia came back in the next game, though, finishing with four straight points and winning 20-25. The final two games were thoroughly competitive and ended 25-22 and 25-21 respectively in favor of the Tigers.
