On Thursday and Friday, English II Pre-AP students concluded their slam poetry unit by performing an original poem for the class. The class was divided into two groups — spoken word, where students merely performed their poems, and slam poetry, where students competed against each other.

Ceiling lights were turned off, and coffee and tea were provided to create a poetic atmosphere. Following slam poetry etiquette, students snapped their fingers to show their approval for a word or a phrase.
