The Roar talks to senior Connor White about his top-25 high score in 2048, an addictive game that has swept over the mobile phones of over 9 million people.

What is 2048?

2048 is an iPhone and Android game that involves math and numbers where you swipe a set of numbers to get the 2048 tile.

What notable accomplishment did you have in 2048?

I got a score of 170,000, which at the time was 24th in the world.

What is that rank now?

I’m not sure what my rank is now, but it has fallen a lot since then.

How difficult is it to play 2048?

A lot of people struggle to get the 2048 tile, that can take a couple of days for many people. But, the basic concept is pretty simple–you’re just sliding tiles to add them up to 2048.

Any tips for people who want to beat 2048 but haven’t yet?

Keep your biggest tiles on one side and that will help you so they don’t get trapped [by smaller value tiles].

How much time did it take for you to beat 2048?

It took me maybe 4 days, just by playing in class. Also, once you beat it, it’s a good idea to delete it off your phone so that it doesn’t take up too much time.

If you’re still wondering how these numbers add up, you can download 2048 for iPhone or for Android devices.
