On Saturday, Jan. 25, the wrestling team met at Bryan High School for their district tournament.
Coach David Salyer said he was impressed with the teams’ performance, and believes their work will allow them to continue improving.
“The team is young and rebuilding, but we will be competitive,” Salyer said. “We do not train any differently for any one tournament; we continually condition and strength train as well as drill new and basic wrestling technique.”
Of the 17 competitors who placed at district, nine will move on to the regional tournament in San Antonio this week.
Regional qualifiers: Seniors Shaun Goodman and Justin Barnett-Gonzalez, juniors Alan Wortman, Micah McNeill, Brandon Clipp and Angel Cepeda, freshmen Harley Coons, Angel Cepeda and Alexis Dement.
Placed at district: Senior Patrick Westmoreland, sophomores Kai Everett and Aidan Terry, freshmen Robert Kruse, Cannon Coker, and Ryan Jones.
