Londoner Rosie Lowe slides smoothly into the R&B and soul scene with her debut EP “Right Thing.”

The title track hints at something more, featuring electronic riffs and back beats. Lowe’s voice is strong, but also subtle, peppered with pops of instrumentation.

“10K Balloons” also only offers the occasional beat to open up the song, but more strongly highlights Lowe’s vocal ability. The track picks up with more synth-sounding slides and rolling electronic rhythms, vaguely reminiscent of carnival noise. Quick lyrics are nostalgic and haunting.

“Games” is a bit of game-changer. What had previously been a very blended sound is now distinct and loud. Her voice challenges the brassy and jazzy background, but never competes with it.

“Me & Your Ghost” begins with hesitant echoes of a call, summoning a strong piano background. Lowe’s emotional vocals have a chance to move in the spotlight, digital audio layers moving into the edge’s shadows.

All four tracks can easily stand alone, but “Right Thing” in its entirety is comprehensive and fluid.  The sound is sharply unique and the future view for Lowe is great: the music world may soon be looking through Rosie-colored glasses.
