  1. Washington on the Brazos held a free event in honor of Juneteenth on Saturday. Guests gathered to celebrate the 1865 emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
  2. Representatives of North and South Korea announced Friday that they will hold reunions for families separated by the Korean War in August. This decision is a part of the ongoing reconciliation efforts between the two nations. 
  3. England beat Panama 6-1 during their match on Sunday to qualify for the final 16 of the World Cup. This match was the first time England scored more than four goals since the 1960s. 
  4. The US Air Force announced Thursday that SpaceX will launch a secret military satellite in 2020. The satellite is called AFSPC-52 and will fly atop Falcon Heavy, a SpaceX machine. 
  5. An Arizona woman was denied prescribed medication to induce miscarriage on Thursday when a Walgreens employee refused to fill her prescription due to the employee’s ethical beliefs. Arizona is one of six states where pharmacists can refuse to fill prescriptions for drugs associated with ending pregnancies. 
  6. Hundreds of mourners gathered in Kansas City, Missouri on Thursday for designer Kate Spade’s funeral. Spade died of suicide on June 5 following many years of struggling with anxiety and depression. 
  7. Koko the gorilla died on Tuesday, leaving behind an important scientific legacy and fans all over the world. Koko rose to fame after Stanford graduate student Penny Patterson taught the gorilla a version of sign language. 
  8. Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave the Red Hen restaurant in Virginia on Friday due to her association with the Trump administration. Other Trump administration staff members have had similar experiences recently due to their work for the current president. 
  9. At least two people were injured on Saturday in a rally for the new Ethiopian prime minister after a man threw a grenade into the crowd. Witnesses say that the man was aiming for the prime minister, but was blocked by the crowd. 
  10. Rapper Meek Mill performed a new song that touches on police violence against black people and incarceration at the BET awards on Sunday. Mill completed his statement with a hoodie depicting XXXTentacion, who was shot in Florida recently.
