Gallery: AP Physics I classes test, destroy spaghetti bridges

by Jennifer Zhan, senior editor

This six weeks, physics teacher Michelle Jedlicka’s AP Physics I classes were asked to construct bridges out of spaghetti and glue. Aside from dimension and weight requirements, students were allowed freedom in all aspects of design.

Today during 1st and 7th periods, students hung 5-gallon buckets on testing hooks and added weights until their bridges collapsed. Points were awarded based on the ratio of the mass the bridge held to the mass of the bridge.
