1. 84 people were killed over the weekend in Aleppo, demonstrating the escalating deadliness of the Syrian rebels’ assaults on regime-held parts of Aleppo.

2. Setting a new record, more than 22,000 people voted early in Brazos County for the first week this past week. Early voting will continue through this week; election day is Tuesday, November 8.

4. On Monday afternoon, a fire broke out along a section of the major pipeline Colonial Pipeline in Alabama, killing one person and injuring five others.

5. Early this week in Nepal, 40 army soldiers and local villagers dug through boulders to drain a glacial lake south of Mount Everest, preventing an outburst that could have flooded several villages

6. Scientists have found the first fossilized dinosaur brain, which was officially identified as such last Friday. This discovery has led to new interpretations of the recognition of preserved soft tissue.
