Aquatic science room vandalized, students set up fund

by Annie Zhang, editor-in-chief

Aquatic science teacher Matt Young’s room was recently vandalized by a person who poured excessive amounts of fish food into the tanks –thus killing the fish and ruining the tanks — and left vulgar messages on the wall.

Over $4000 worth of fish, tanks and filters was damaged, and students have since set up a GoFundMe page to help offset the costs. In the ten hours that the fund has been created, over $2400 have been raised by 80 people.

“I don’t know [Young] personally but [his] influence in the BCS community is well known and I thank [him] for [his] work,” Heidi Rees, who helped donate to the cause, said in the comments on the page. “I’m sorry this happened, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to show that we care.”
