1. Same-sex marriage was legalized by SCOTUS on Friday. Check out our info-graphic of the event here.

2. At the College Station City Council meeting last Thursday, system wide park improvements, including the re-development of four existing parks, was proposed. Sidewalks will also be put in around AMCMS.

3. On Sunday, a 17-year-old boy fell victim to a shark attack off the coast of North Carolina. There have been several other shark attacks off the East Coast as of late, as sharks are preparing for Shark Week, which starts July 5th.

4. Consol graduate Karna Venkatraj placed 11th in United States Extemporaneous Speaking at the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament held in Dallas.

5. Brittany Ann Byuarim-Newsome, 30, climbed a thirty-foot pole in front of the South Carolina Capitol building to remove a Confederate flag. She was later arrested and the flag was replaced. This also marks the first time in history a man has ever wanted a woman to get off a pole.

6. Yesterday, at a gay pride parade in Istanbul, police used rubber pellets, water cannons, and pepper spray on the crowd of thousands who showed up for the march. Turkish government cited the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as the main reason to stop the procession, although witnesses believe their government is trying to silence minorities.

7. 39 people were injured in an ISIS attack on a Tunisian hotel last Friday, and at least 38 more were killed.

8. TCU pitcher and Consol graduate Riley Ferrell signed with the Houston Astros on Friday.

9. Greek banks will be closed for the next six days, starting today, as strict limits are also placed on ATM withdrawals. If you haven’t seen the Parthenon yet, go while you still can, because the Greek government might have to sell it to get their money back.

10. Four Consol students will be serving in Skills USA leadership positions for both District 7 and the state. The 2015-2016 elected officers are: senior Ross Romero, State Vice President, senior Amanda Herrera, District 7 President, junior Kelly Krenek, D7 Vice President and junior Alexis Girouard, D7 officer.
