Our summary of things to do, words to read, people to meet, and dances to learn this week. Enjoy!

MONDAY, Jan. 26

  • all day | Buy one Chipotle burrito filled with their spicy-tofu Sofritas filling & receive a coupon enabling you to come back later to get another burrito (of your choice) for free. (We’re not kidding.)
  • We may not have been wiped out dinosaur-style by the asteroid that flew by today, but that’s no excuse not to read what Don Yeomans, manager of NASA’s Near Earth Object Program Office, has to say about asteroids in general in this Jet Propulsion Laboratory article.

TUESDAY, Jan. 27

  • 7:30 p.m. | Watch the boys basketball team take on Bryan at home. Or, if you’re up for a 15-minute drive, watch the girls basketball team take on Bryan at Bryan High.
  • College Station’s been mighty sunny these past few days. Of course, given Texas weather patterns, there’s no telling when that could change. Just in case we become embroiled in a blizzard like the one currently attacking the East Coast — or a smattering of snow, to which Texans’ reactions usually equal those of New Yorkers’ to blizzards — figure out what show’ll tide you through those late-start days that are only a dream at present.

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 28

  • 12:30 p.m. | HEY! You’re done with school for the day. Go eat a nice lunch and perhaps pick up a few Oscar nominees to watch so you can seem extra-informed when the Academy Awards roll around on Feb. 22. Alternatively, you can watch one of a number of excellent films that weren’t nominated for an Oscar this year, for whatever reason (ahem, Academy demographics?). Managing editor Rojas Oliva recommends “Blue Velvet.” From 1986.
  • DON’T FORGET: Juniors, NHS applications are due today! Here’s a guide detailing how else to pad your college resume.

THURSDAY, Jan. 29

  • Now that we’re on the downhill stretch, it’s time for you to check out our BEATLES SONG OF THE WEEK. News editor Aaron Ross feels that “I’ll Cry Instead” accurately sums up his feelings about his workload this week.
  • The graffiti in the boys’ restroom (the red one, to be specific) has gotten really political. Learn about the protests occurring in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo shooting against the content of the magazine itself: Friday’s in Iran and Saturday’s in Sydney. On the other side of the ideological conflict, British cartoonists are releasing a book to raise money for the magazine.

FRIDAY, Jan. 30

SATURDAY, Jan. 31

SUNDAY, Feb. 1

  • SUPER BOWL SUNDAY | Is it immoral to watch the Super Bowl? If the answer for you is “no,” then make a batch of this heart-(un)healthy garlicky party bread as you sit down to revel in some great football and listen to our favorite Katy Perry song in preparation for the halftime show. If the answer for you is “yes,” then catch the fifth episode of the fifth season of “Downton Abbey” (yes, that’s two fifths; magical, like the seventh son of a seventh son?) on PBS at 7:00 p.m. and call it a night.
