 by Zach Kluver, entertainment editor

After winning their first two non-tournament matches, the A&M Consolidated Lady Tigers were defeated three games to one by the College Park Cavaliers.

Led by senior Carly Hicks and junior Haley Slocum (33 kills combined), the Lady Tigers won the first game 25-17. breaking through College Park’s strong defense with several scoring streaks. Slocum finished off the first game with a well-aimed kill.

At the start of the second game, College Park started with a lead and maintained it, not allowing the Lady Tigers to gain any advantage, despite their quality effort. Consol could not catch up, and the Cavaliers won.

The next game seemed to be going Consol’s way in the first few minutes, but the tide quickly changed as the Cavaliers pulled into the lead. The Tigers were unable to gain any significant momentum, and the third game finished with the Cavaliers winning by a seven-point margin.

The last and most intense game began with a seemingly endless tie between College Park and A&M Consolidated, but as the teams hit eleven points each, the Cavaliers started scoring and didn’t stop until they reached the twenties. Consol began an impressive comeback, but was unable to catch up in time. The last game ended 16- 25.

The Lady Tigers remained impressive in defeat, with senior Paige Kopetsky collecting 32 digs by the match’s end.

Next up: the Lady Tigers take on The Woodlands at A&M Consolidated on Sept. 2.
