The Roar spoke to junior Logan Reynolds about his involvement as vice president of Game Design Club.

Who is Game Design Club for?

I think we all had a common interest that we wanted to make games. [The club] is just a way to do that.

Is this club new?

Yeah, it started at the end of the first semester.

How many people are in it right now?

About 20 people.

What are you doing right now?

The entire club as a whole meets, and then we divide into companies, which each have five to eight people working on each of their games.

What games have you guys made so far?

We made a parody of Galaga.

A parody?

Well, not a parody…

A rip-off?

Yeah, that’s it. A rip-off. We started with that because those are pretty basic to do. So far we’ve only done two finished games, but we should finish before the end of the year.

What are your plans for next year?

We’re working to become a more official club, as well as having some school events, like a lock-in or making games for Game Wars. Something besides just having the club.

When do you guys meet?

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to  6 p.m. in Powell’s room.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining?

You don’t have to have any experience making games in the past. No one does. If you want to make a game you can to show up. There will be something for you to do and something for you to help with.
