Searching for a way to spice up my workout, hot yoga seemed to be a different, fun class to try. Hot yoga classes in College Station are so far only offered at Innovative Fitness, but the gym provides plenty of types of yoga, as well as many classes throughout each day of the week to go to. If you schedule your class online, it’s half price off for your first visit, bringing the price down to $8.50.

The gym is easy to find, and the people who work there are quite accommodating if you haven’t been before. The gym has lockers outside the classroom, as well as cuby holes in the classroom, to store your belongings. The room’s temperature is set at 98 degrees Fahrenheit, so immediately shirts begin to get a bit sweaty. The gym does charge for use of yoga mats and towels, so be sure to bring your own! Also, I highly recommend being very hydrated before, during and after the class because of the immense water lost from sweating so much.

The class is set in dim light, and everyone sets up their yoga mats facing the instructor. The instructor–named Abigail–helped us get set and put on soothing music for a peaceful atmosphere. Although the moves practiced for Hot Power Vinyasa Flow Yoga can be somewhat challenging (especially for a novice yogi), each person is free to go at their own pace. Abigail demonstrated modified moves for tougher positions throughout the class, as well as ways to deepen certain stretches. Overall, it was an engaging work out that may leave you sore, sweaty, and smelly by the end of class, but also refreshed and rejuvenated.
